Twin shaft shredder blades

Twin shaft shredder blades are cutting discs mounted on two parallel shafts running at different speeds. The hooks on each disc grip the feed and drag it into the overlap, where the disc flanks shear it against the discs of the opposite shaft. Spacer rings set the disc pitch, and cleaning fingers or scraper plates strip material out of the gaps so the shaft does not pack.

Three dimensions decide how the machine behaves: disc thickness sets the output fraction, hook count and geometry set the intake aggressiveness, and the bore profile decides whether torque is carried by the shaft flats or by a key. We manufacture discs to your existing shaft, so a replacement set drops onto the same hardware without machining.

Discs can be supplied plain, with hardfacing on the hooks, or carbide-faced for abrasive feedstock. For metal and tyre work the usual answer is a tougher steel at lower hardness rather than a harder one: hooks that break off cost far more than hooks that wear down.

Material and hardness

For twin shaft machines the balance sits further towards toughness than on single shaft shredders. The hooks take shock loading every revolution, and anything in the feed that will not shear — a bearing, a hardened bolt, a piece of rail — hits the hook first.

We normally specify D2 or DC53 around 56–58 HRC for mixed waste and plastics, and drop to a tougher chromium-molybdenum grade for tyres, drums and scrap metal. Where abrasion rather than impact is the problem, hardfacing or a carbide face on the hook extends life without making the whole disc brittle.

Compatible brands

We supply replacement discs and complete cutter sets for a wide range of twin-shaft shredders. Parts can be produced according to your drawing, physical sample, part number or verified machine dimensions, ensuring the right fit for your equipment.

OEM and custom manufacturing

Discs, spacers and cleaners can be produced from approved drawings, physical samples, existing specifications, machine models or measured dimensions. Steel grade, hardness, hook profile, bore geometry, thickness, marking and packing are all specified for your application.

For shredder builders and distributors we take on long-term OEM and volume production including private-label supply. Drawings, samples and machine data are treated as confidential.

Applications

  • Tyres and rubber
Whole and pre-cut tyres, conveyor belt, rubber blocks and mixed rubber scrap.
  • Scrap metal and drums
Light scrap, steel drums, white goods, aluminium profiles and turnings.
  • Municipal and commercial waste
Bulky waste, mixed commercial waste and RDF preparation.
  • Wood and pallets
Pallets, crates, timber offcuts and green waste.
